  Great Lakes Pawn on Grand River Avenue is less than a mile away and is better than 14k in every way imaginable . Do yourself a favor and go to Great Lakes Pawn instead.
  
  I used to stop in this pawn shop every once in awhile, however I won't be anymore. They're not always the friendliest, and don't really have a great selection, but that's not why I'm stopping going.
  
  Advertise in the front window of their store is a giant sign that says we buy gift cards. Now this is true, but only sometimes. I tend to get a lot of gift cards through my work as bonuses that I never end up using, so I like to sell them to people on Craigslist or at shops that buy them. Over the past couple of months I have sold a couple to them, and one day they told me they don't feel like buying gift cards because they haven't got around to selling the ones they have online yet. Okay that's fine. Two days ago however I called in asking if they were interested in buying a Best Buy card for $200 at their rate. The guy on the phone said yeah absolutely bring it in. I couldn't make it in that night, but the next day I brought in the gift card about 20 minutes before they were set to close. even though they weren't closed yet the guy had all the lights in the store shut off and he was wearing his jacket as though he was about to walk out. Okay, whatever you can leave early if you want. When I showed him the gift card he said oh "I'm sorry I can't buy that, we don't buy gift cards for that much." I know that not to be true because I had sold gift cards for more than that at that specific location in the recent past. Plus the guy I talked to the day prior said it was just fine, I believe it was the same guy even because there isn't too large of a staff there and I couldn't recognize their voices to a certain extent.
  
  Long story short, it's a disorganized crappy pawn shop, where the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing, that won't give you a fair price for anything you bring in there.
  
  Go to Great Lakes Pawn instead. It is less than a mile away. They always give you super fair prices for whatever you're bringing in, the staff is super nice and really professional. I highly recommend Great Lakes Pawn. There is no reason to go to 14K in Farmington with Great Lakes Pawn being so close on Grand River Avenue.
